There is something about the New Year that people find brings forth new hope. The end of one year can mark a finishing point, a place at which past events can be gently put to one side gone but not forgotten and eyes can look to the future. A renewed positivity can be enjoyed and many people see it as a time when they can reassess their life targets. What was impossible to grasp in December can, in January, be reachable again. As such it is not unusual for people to resolve to do something new with their lives, which may ultimately have the outcome of a personal new beginning.Friedrich Nietzsche portrayed hope as a ‘gift’ from Zeus. The father of the gods had no wish for humanity to regard life as a throwaway thing no matter how much torment that life might bring. Rather, he wished for man to be able to allow himself to be tormented again and again and for that reason he gave mankind hope. Prevalent attitudes towards hope are a little more, well, hopeful! It is not regarded as the most evil as evils, because it gives us the thought that things will or can only get better! It is seen more as a chance to secure for ourselves a better future rather than a prolongation of our agony! Examine your own attitudes towards hope for a second. If you were a prisoner and sentenced to a life of captivity without committing a crime, what sort of hope would you feel? Would you refuse to give it up and plan for escape, actively attempting to get yourself out? Would you pray for your freedom against the odds? Or would you forget about the idea of release and give up on hope altogether?
Without hope, would it be possible to reconsider our goals in life? Would we be able to believe that our efforts for freedom from slavery would bear positive fruit? Could we even re-imagine our purpose here on the little blue planet or even motivate ourselves to carry things through without it? The answer is probably no so hope on, embrace it, hug it, squeeze it! Dream something new and positive for Baloch Nation and let hope help you achieve it!
Happy New Year!
